IMP Projects

CUTE BAG PROJECT

Once you have made one of these little bags - they are a cinch. I keep a scored but uncut one with the scored lines numbered for reference then if it's a while since I've made one I don't have to scratch my head or search for instructions. They are so cute and versatile and with so many gorgeous resources and embellishments to choose from the design possibilities are endless.

Here goes:

Resources:

IMP & CreaseMouse
Piece cardstock cut to 12" x 8.5"
Stamps, pretty papers, embellishments to suit your theme

To make:

1. (If you are right-handed this step will be easier if you have the Base Bar to your right.) Place a long edge of the cardstock to the Base Bar and score groove 1. Rotate cardstock to place opposite long edge to Base Bar and score groove 1.

2. Place a short edge to Base Bar and score groove 3 to create bag FLAP.

3. Rotate card to place other short edge to Base Bar and score grooves 7 and 8. Place scored lines 7 and 8 into grooves 2 and 4. Hold card firmly in place and score groove 3 to produce central gusset crease.

4. Position card with bag FLAP at top of scoreboard and long edge to Base Lightly pencil mark groove 3 on bottom edge of card (bag BACK). Rotate card to place the opposite long edge to Base Bar and bag BACK at the top of board.Lightly pencil mark groove 3 on edge of bag BACK.

5. To shape the bag BACK: Line up a pencil mark and the end of central gusset crease on groove 9. Hold card firmly in place and score the diagonal.

6. Partly rotate the card to place opposite end of central gusset crease and other pencil mark on groove 9. Hold firmly in place and score the corresponding diagonal.

7. Cut along scored diagonal lines to remove the triangle shape created at each side edge of bag BACK.

8. Place bag FLAP at top of board and side edge to Base Bar, score groove 3 down as far as FLAP crease. Rotate card to place opposite side edge to Base Bar and score up groove 3 as far as FLAP fold.

9. Cut along these short scored lines as far as FLAP crease then continue cutting diagonally to edge of central gusset line to shape bag FRONT. Draw these diagonals in pencil if you wish before cutting.

10. Fold and flatten FLAP crease. Mountain-fold central gusset crease and Valley-fold side gusset creases. Fold in and flatten triangle at each side edge.

11. Punch small holes in bag back just below flap crease and thread through 'handle'.

12. Shape the bag FLAP if you wish. Chose a method of closure.

13. Sample shown has a medium size punched circle partly attached to underside edge of flap. Close bag and mark circle at its widest points on bag front. Cut a slit between marks.

DECORATE INSIDE!

Have fun - They're addictive!
